Our Bespoke country retreat
The Lodge at Loyton offers a private country retreat for groups of friends, family or colleagues, fully catered by our talented in-house chef and quietly serviced by our friendly and professional team. We welcome guests for all occasions – an exclusive, celebratory houseparty, a quiet B&B getaway, for a private bash (with or without accommodation), for lunches, dinners and special events. Our service is bespoke and flexible so let us hear your ideas – however outlandish!
The house accommodates up to 20 guests in an intimate setting with a relaxed and hospitable atmosphere. The interior blends a contemporary style with antique furnishings and is distinguished by an interesting collection of original paintings and objets d’art. Originally a traditional Devon courtyard farm, the buildings were renovated in 2003 specifically as a houseparty space and designed to provide uncluttered comfort in order to offer our guests a home from home experience.

Each of the ten, spacious bedrooms has a lovely ‘green’ view and an en suite bathroom with a constant supply of good, hot water from our wood chip boiler. A house as opposed to a hotel, the public spaces are all about bringing people together – leading from the reception is an airy sitting room for afternoon tea beside the fire or gathering for drinks before dinner. Food is a significant part of the Loyton experience and you can enjoy majestic dinners in the large dining room with mezzanine gallery, blazing log fire and space to seat 28, feasting-style, at one impressively long table. In the mornings, breakfast can be taken, and sore heads nursed, in the smaller, light-filled breakfast room, newspapers, magazines and delicious, aromatic coffee to hand…
We have a well-stocked bar to complement our love of hosting and festivities – the perfect starting point to get your party going! Loyton also has a carefully chosen cellar offering a good selection of interesting new and old world wines to accompany your menus. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the billiard room after dinner, for snooker, cards or wild games of Frida!
Menus are planned in advance, along with all the finer details of your visit so that you can spend your days unwinding, or out and about touring the beautiful Devonshire countryside, or sampling the wide range of sporting activities in the area. In the evening, the feasting begins…!
